ABOUT ME / /

WHO AM I?

My name is Luke Harshaw. I've been hooked on movies for as long as I can remember. I used to watch The Little Rascals several times a week because there was something about the visuals that felt incredibly satisfying to me. I didn’t fully understand why at the time, but I knew I wanted to figure out how movies created that feeling. Fast forward to today, and I’m still trying to understand why certain images stick with me. What started as a kid rewatching the same movie has turned into a real love for how light, exposure, shadows and everything in-between create emotion.

EXPERIENCE

I always try to build experience in ways that feel natural to me. Street photography has become a major part of that, teaching me so much about working with natural light, all sorts of different subjects and most importantly how to properly use a camera. I’ve also worked as a camera operator/editor and contributed to a few student films, which have helped me grow more comfortable with professional camera systems. Each experience, no matter how small, has pushed me to be more intentional with how I frame and capture an image.

GOALS

More than anything, I want to get on more sets. In doing that, I want to keep learning and challenging myself. I’m always looking for ways to improve, whether that’s through hands-on experience, studying other filmmakers, or simply paying closer attention. I want to continually get better, both technically and creatively in all aspects of filmmaking, and that comes through getting on set.

ADDITIONAL WORK //

This series was photographed over two weeks in Japan while practicing street photography. I focused on natural light, contrast, and strong framing to capture candid moments in everyday environments. The collection shows my eye for composition and visual storytelling.

This was an experiment with wide-angle lenses and close framing. I focused on how distortion, texture, and expression can change the mood of a portrait and create something visually unique.
